Hi, I'm Kim
I'm an educator, musician, community builder and single mom of two. I’m from the Maritimes and I believe there’s no better place to live - to experience the pure magic of the changing seasons and plenty of wild spaces to explore.
I'm choosing to live a life guided by my intuition and it has led me here, as the founder and creator of Sunrise Village.
My Story
I’ve been following my intuition, and it’s led me here, to Sunrise.
I’m creating a new way of living for myself, my two young children, and my community—one that feels more intentional, grounded, and supported. I bring over decade of experience working with children, including with the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra, Sistema NB, and Anglophone East School District. Those years taught me many valuable lessons and skills and also helped me realize that the traditional system isn’t where I belong.
My work has always been rooted in connection and creativity. I hold two degrees in music, specifically in trombone performance and I still love to perform when opportunities arise. However, these days I'm more regularly performing children's music with my ukulele. During the pandemic, when everything shut down, I started a baby-and-me group, along with mama and baby yoga and music classes because I saw how deeply families needed connection.
Everything shifted again when I became a single mother. I began living more authentically and more intentionally, and I started asking deeper questions about how I wanted to raise my children. And it led me here.
I’m no longer interested in doing this alone. I believe there is a better way to raise our kids. One that’s rooted in community, where families support one another through this vulnerable and fleeting season of life.

The mission of Sunrise Village Hybrid Homeschool is to raise our children together in community.
Our hybrid education program, offers two days of drop-off, in-person learning each week, along with guidance and support for your homeschooling days.
Why?
So families can focus on what matters most — living a life filled with more connection, curiosity, creativity, and joy.
We believe deeply in community, mindfulness, and child-led learning. Our classes are intentionally kept small—with only 10 students per class—to ensure every child receives the support, connection, and attention they need to thrive.
At Sunrise Village, we believe a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy is best built through meaningful, project-based learning experiences that are guided by children's natural curiosity and interests. Rather than learning subjects in isolation, our students apply reading, writing, math, science, art, music, and practical life skills through three large seasonal projects that give purpose and meaning to everything they learn.
Throughout the year, our learning is centered around three meaningful, seasonally inspired projects that bring together academics, creativity, entrepreneurship, and community.
Autumn: Create (Winter Market)
Our first term culminates in a community Winter Market. Students design and create handmade items to sell, display their artwork in a student gallery, and perform a musical recital for family and friends. Along the way, they develop skills in planning, budgeting, writing, creating, problem-solving, and collaboration while experiencing the pride of sharing their work with a real audience.
Winter: Discover (Passion Project)
During our second term, students help choose a topic that sparks their curiosity. Together, we'll ask meaningful questions, conduct research, explore hands-on learning experiences, invite guest experts and create presentations to share what we've discovered. This project encourages critical thinking, communication, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.
Spring Grow (Summer Market)
We finish the year with our Summer Market, giving students another opportunity to design, create, and sell their own handmade products while reflecting on how much they've grown throughout the year. It's a joyful celebration of creativity, confidence, and entrepreneurship before summer begins.
Our in-person learning days include weekly music and art classes, as well as at least one hour of outdoor time every day in all types of weather. Families also receive simple, supportive homeschooling guidance designed to take approximately one hour per day during the three at-home learning days each week.
We are located in downtown Moncton, where our program operates out of a cozy century home featuring two classrooms, a fenced backyard, and a large play structure for outdoor exploration and play.

Two unique spaces to choose from:
The Hive: a bright, welcoming space on the ground floor with access to a full kitchen and fenced in backyard.
The Treehouse: a playful, inspiring space on the second floor, featuring a climbing wall.
Both spaces include foldable tables and chairs, a projector with speakers and whiteboard, everything you need to bring your ideas to life.
Rent the space for your private events
Birthday parties, anniversaries, meetings, rehearsals etc. Whatever you’re dreaming up, this space is here to hold it.
Share your gifts
Have an idea for a class or workshop? We’d love to support you. Anything from yoga to cooking, book club to French class and everything in between. Rent the space and we’ll help promote your offering on our website and social media.
We’ll also be hosting seasonal free clothing swaps, because community means showing up for each other in simple, meaningful ways.
This is more than just a rental space.
It’s a place to gather, create, learn, and connect.
